Quality and Engineering Checks

We check springs against the dimensions and working requirements agreed for the part. Tell us which features control fit and which force or torque points matter in your mechanism, so we can define the sample checks with you.

Dimensions and interfaces

Identify the dimensions that control fit: available space, attachment geometry, arbor and housing dimensions, or the interfaces of a wire spring or flat form. Give tolerances on the drawing where required. Material thickness and width are different controls from the finished spring’s inside or outside diameter.

Mark the critical dimensions and tolerances on your drawing; we will agree how each feature is measured.

Force and installed conditions

We use a digital force gauge with a reel fixture for force checks and a spring tensile testing machine with a suitable fixture for force-versus-travel measurements. We agree the fixture, support, preload and measurement positions to match the spring’s installation.

State force at identified travel positions, or torque at identified angles or turns. Include preload, direction and the usable range. A single output value without its position is not a complete acceptance requirement.

Inspection equipment and required records

Our inspection equipment includes a hardness tester and a spring tensile testing machine. If you need inspection reports, calibration records or a particular inspection frequency, include those requirements with your drawing so we can agree the inspection plan before production.

The inspection plan identifies which checks are required for your part and which results must accompany the order.

Durability is application-dependent

Share the target cycle life together with load, travel or angle, installation and operating environment. We will review the evaluation method and failure criteria for that spring and duty.

Define spring force checks and complete-mechanism endurance or safety tests separately, with clear conditions and acceptance criteria for each.

Prepare the sample acceptance record

  • Part number, drawing revision and sample identification for the purchase record.
  • Material and dimensional requirements relevant to fit.
  • Fixture or installation arrangement and preload.
  • Measurement points, units and allowed variation.
  • Operating conditions and any agreed durability evaluation.
  • Which results approve the sample and which questions remain open.

For the production scope, see Manufacturing Capability. For the initial information package, use the RFQ checklist.

Discuss your spring requirement

Send your drawing, sample details or operating requirements through our Contact / RFQ page and tell us what you need the spring to do.
