Compression & Torsion Springs (Wire)

We make custom wire compression and torsion springs from drawings or samples. Specify the load at the working length for a compression spring, or torque at the working angle for a torsion spring.

We will confirm the material, wire diameter and end geometry for your installation.

Custom compression and torsion springs

A compression spring resists an axial load as its length decreases. A wire torsion spring supplies a moment through its legs as their relative angle changes. These require different drawings and acceptance measurements.

We make custom compression and torsion springs from drawings or samples. For a compression spring, specify the load at the working length. For a torsion spring, send the working angle and torque. We will review the wire diameter, material and end geometry for your installation.

Compression spring inquiry checklist

  • Required load at each specified working length, with units and permitted variation.
  • Free length, outside or inside diameter and the available axial travel.
  • End configuration, seats, guide rod or bore and assembly clearances.
  • Maximum intended compression and space available for the compressed spring.
  • Operating environment, cycle target and material requirement.

Wire torsion spring inquiry checklist

  • Required torque at defined angles and the working direction.
  • Coil envelope, leg lengths, leg angles and end details.
  • Arbor or housing dimensions and clearance through the working rotation.
  • Installed preload, mechanical stops and intended cycle target.

If the component is made from flat strip rather than wire, review spiral springs or power springs as appropriate.

From drawing or sample to production

Our forming equipment includes cam-operated and camless spring-forming machines and compression spring machines. Send the part drawing, installation space and required load or torque so we can confirm the wire diameter, material and end-forming requirements.

We accept PDF, DWG, DXF and STEP drawings for engineering review. A sample is also a useful starting point: add photographs, the space it fits into and the required load or torque. We then confirm the spring geometry, tooling and sample requirements with you.

Include the sample and production quantities. We will agree the critical dimensions and the load or torque at specified working positions. If durability testing is part of your approval process, state the target cycles, operating conditions and acceptance criteria.

Questions before requesting a quote

What material and wire diameter should I specify?

Send any required wire standard or material grade, along with the working environment and installation dimensions. If the wire size is not fixed, include the load at the working length or the torque at the working angle so we can review it with the spring geometry.

Can you quote from a sample?

A sample can start the review. Add the required output, working positions and mating dimensions, especially if the sample is worn or has lost force.

What MOQ or lead time applies?

Send the sample and production quantities with your drawing or sample details. We confirm the minimum order, tooling and schedule in the quotation after checking the geometry, material and quantity.

Discuss your spring requirements

Send your drawing or sample details, the required load or torque, and the quantity. We can begin with the information you already have.
