Define the function before the shape
A spring clip relies on elastic deflection to apply force against a mating part. A flat form may combine spring action with locating or attachment features. Similar-looking parts can behave differently when the installed gap or contact position changes.
We develop these parts from drawings or samples. Tell us what the part holds, how it is fitted and whether it will be removed or operated repeatedly. We use the mating dimensions and required force to confirm the geometry and material.
Dimensions and forces for your clip
- Geometry: dimensioned drawing, thickness, width, bend locations, holes and critical datums.
- Mating parts: installed gap, contact surfaces, available space and tolerances.
- Force: insertion, retention or return force at defined deflections, with units.
- Assembly: insertion direction, tool access and removal requirements.
- Duty: repeated movement, temperature and corrosion exposure.
- Supply: drawing revision, sample quantity and production quantity.
Materials, forming and inspection
We work with SUS301, SUS304, SK5, 65Mn and 60Si2Mn. Across our flat-strip products, the processing range is 0.1–0.6 mm thick and 1–100 mm wide, depending on the product, material and thickness–width combination. We confirm the strip size and forming requirements against your part drawing.
We make custom spring clips and formed flat parts from drawings or samples, with strip slitting carried out in-house. We will confirm the forming sequence, tooling and material requirements for your part.
Mark the dimensions that control fit and the force needed at the installed deflection. We will agree the measurement points and any durability evaluation required for sample approval.
Drawing or sample development
Send a PDF, DWG, DXF or STEP drawing, or a sample with photographs of its installed position. Include the mating dimensions and the required holding, insertion or return force so we can review the bends, contact areas and tooling.
Questions before requesting a quote
Can you reproduce an existing clip?
Yes. Send the clip and the mating component, or its dimensions, together with the holding or insertion force you need. Show the installed position so we can establish the working deflection.
Can a surface finish be specified?
Yes, include the required finish and operating environment in the drawing or enquiry. We will confirm whether the finish is suitable for the selected material and forming process before quoting.
What quantities and timing should I discuss?
A typical starting quantity is 10 samples, with a production MOQ of 500 pieces. Samples generally take 7–10 days, and normal production takes 10–15 days depending on quantity and part complexity. We confirm the quantities, tooling, how days are counted, the start date and the schedule in the quotation.
Discuss your spring requirements
Send the part drawing or sample details with the installed gap, required force and quantity.
